Cobelens Named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year 2011

TW Steel's CEO and co-founder, Jordy Cobelens, was named on Saturday, 8th October, as Ernst & Young's 'Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year 2011' in The Netherlands.
The 29-year-old was awarded this prestigious business award at a black-tie ceremony in Amsterdam having originally made it onto Ernst & Young's 12-strong shortlist in the category.
Cobelens co-founded 'The Watch in Steel' in 2005 along with his father and Chief Design Officer, Ton Cobelens, with the aim to be 'Big in Oversized Watches' – the lifestyle brand now enjoying a bold reputation as an innovator in the competitive watch sector and available in over 80 countries worldwide.
“I'm extremely happy and proud to win 'Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year 2011',” stated a jubilant Cobelens. “I was honoured to even be nominated but to go on and actually win is really something quite special, not least given the standard of the other candidates.
“TW Steel is extremely proud of its Dutch roots so being recognized like this in our home market is fantastic. My thanks obviously go to everyone who's played a part in our successes worldwide. I'm focused on doing even bigger things with the TW Steel brand moving forward!”
Already with a reputation as the world's biggest business award, Ernst & Young organize the 'Entrepreneur of the Year' competition in over 50 countries worldwide.
After a careful selection process Jordy Cobelens was included in the final 12 candidates competing for the main prize in The Netherlands. Entrepreneurs within this category are selected for their distinctive vision, passion and strong conviction.
Their companies must have been in business between one and seven years and have shown to excel through a determined approach resulting in impressive results. In the past three years their companies have to have demonstrated a year-on-year growth of a minimum of 20% and arguably be profitable. Finally these companies had to play a crucial role in the Dutch economy and through innovation create jobs and prosperity!
TW Steel enjoys a reputation as a big, bold lifestyle brand and it enjoys a celebrity clientele to match with names such as Jay Z, Kelly Rowland, Tyson Beckford, Patty LaBelle, Natasha Bedingfield, and Fergie owning 'The Watch in Steel'. The brand also enjoys a strong ambassador roster including motorsport legends, Emerson Fittipaldi, Mick Doohan, David Coulthard and Dario Franchitti.
TW Steel is also the 'Official Timing Partner' to Lotus Renault GP in Formula One – an association that commenced in 2010 and the basis of the company's global marketing platform.
